Rural Transit Assistance Program
The Colorado Association of Transit Agencies (CASTA) contracts with the Colorado Dept of Transportation (CDOT) to administer the Rural Transit Assistance Program (RTAP) for Colorado. CASTA’s 2007 responsibilities include:
- CASTA staff available 8 am to 5 pm Mon - Fri by phone, email and for onsite visits.
- Identify, recommend and provide training for drivers, managers, supervisors, maintenance and other transit personnel.
- Provide training and assistance in creating and maintaining safety & security plans.
- Develop and promote Colorado’s Regional Peer Network.
- Facilitate the Secret Shopper program.
- Maintain a training materials library and disseminate upon request.
- Maintain membership in national training organizations.
- Publish and disseminate the 2007 Colorado Transit Directory.
- Co-sponsor the Annual Statewide Transit Conference.
- Publish bimonthly paper and electronic CASTA Connection newsletters.
- Maintain a web site with current training and technical information.
- Create and maintain a Maintenance Bulletin Board on the CASTA web site.
- Administer the RTAP Scholarship Program.
